Our background

Our first impact fund was launched in 2017, with the intention to offer investors a fund that only invested in companies with solutions to our social and environmental challenges.

With over 30 years of experience in the stock market, Kerry Series, NorthStar Founder, was frustrated by the lack of options for impact investing in listed equities.

Our vision at NorthStar Impact is to shift capital for good at scale and raise the bar for responsible investors so that social and environmental outcomes are given as much consideration as financial returns.

Our philosophy

We believe that:

Social and environmental outcomes must be incorporated into investment decisions to ensure a healthy, well-functioning economy, society and planet.
For system change, the rules of capitalism need to change so that both positive and negative externalities are valued and priced.
Investors can have impact in listed equities by supporting listed companies whose purpose is to benefit society and/or the environment.
Investors should be long term supporters of companies to provide them with the capital to execute their strategy and to achieve their goals and purpose.

Our investment approach

We identify companies that provide solutions to social and environmental challenges. These companies operate in areas such as affordable housing, education, health, land management, recycling, and renewable energy.

Our approach is to build an investment case based on financial and business analysis. The research into the social and environmental impacts is integrated into this approach.

For each investment, we forecast future earnings, cash flow, and balance sheet alongside the expected impact targets.
